Dinner plans

This is how we plan for dinner in our family.  How in the world did people communicate before IMs?

Jen: what are we doing for dinner?
Lou: maybe pizza
and no pizza hut
Jen: y
Lou: im tired of pizza hut
Jen: pizza hut rulz
just don't get the cheap pizzas and you're fine
Lou: we need more papa johns or hell, even dominos
Jen: we had dominos yesterday, P brought it over
Lou: and . . .
Jen: I don't want it 2 days in a row
Lou: ok
so now what?
Jen: I don't konw
Lou: no chick fil a
Jen: chinese?
Lou: er . . . nah
Jen: y
Lou: not in the mood
Jen: fizolis?
Lou: if you will get it
Jen: ok

My dentist broke my dimple

Really, folks, it's not as dirty as it sounds.

In the past two months, I've had two crowns and a filling.  Long story.  When I got my filling last Wednesday, the dentist gave me a ton of shots to make that side numb.  When I came home, I noticed a spot on my left cheek, pretty close to my mouth, that was ghost white and remained numb after everything else was fine.  The next day it was a bruise.  Here we are, 6 days later, and it's still a bruise.  Worse yet, when I try to smile or even move that part of my face, the dimple that has been there my whole life IS NOT THERE.  My dentist broke my dimple!  This sucks!  I'm hoping it will self-correct soon, 'cause that's one of the last remaining cute things about me. :)

Owch.

Had a root canal on Monday.  Still sore.  I can only take the good drugs pain relievers at night, gotta be semi-awake for work.

So . . . yeah.

some random stuff:

I spent 3 hours this morning sitting on an uncomfortable couch, waiting for my car to be repaired.  Again.  When they replaced the brakes last Thursday, something wasn't perfect and every time I hit the breaks I'd hear a loud "click click click click" from the back right tire.  Not so fun.

Taught 5th and 6th grade Sunday School yesterday.  That was an experience. 

On Saturday watched the girls for a while, then watched High School Musical with Priscilla.  She sat there most of the movie telling me how stupid it was, then decided at the end she really liked it.  Oh, and FYI?  5th and 6th graders think it's uncool to like High School Musical.  (I personally think they just didn't want to admit they like it, too.)

Did I mention that last Sunday, Jake counted to 100 for the first time all by himself?  I was pretty freaking proud of that.

My ankle is much better.  I can now walk without limping.  Wheee!  I still don't have a full range of motion and it's still a little sore, but I think I'll be ok.  Until the next time I twist it.

I can't get the main song from Hannah Montana out of my head.  Jake really likes Zach and Cody on the Disney channel and when Hannah comes on afterwards I watch it 'cause she's so darn cute.  (Plus, I'd have to find the remote or get off the couch to change the channel, and that's SO not gonna happne.)  Yes, it seems that I'm reverting to about 12 years old.  We all have problems.

Home again, home again, jiggity jig

I am home today because my car's brake light keeps coming on, and my brakes squeak.  And tomorrow Lou is getting the cars checked for emissions to get the tags, and if there's a light on, on the dash, he doesn't know if it would pass.  Plus the whole needing to use the brakes so we don't crash thing.

And the really bad news?  Since I'm home, I have to clean this place.  URG.

Ugh.

Been pre-occupied with a bum ankle (just sprained, not broken - but a lovely shade of purple) and a sick kid (has another ear infection and tested positive for strep.  woo freaking hoo.)  So not much to say right now.

How to ruin your child's Halloween night

You know, it was going pretty well.  We waited until it was dark (Jake was very impatient), we went out into our neighborhood and started with our immediate neighbors.  We hadn't seen them in a while, so we chatted with them, then went off down the street.  Jake was doing a great job saying "Trick or treat" and "thank you" very clearly and being good. 

But then.

We were about 20 houses down the street.  Coming down off the curb, I stepped on my left ankle wrong, heard some pops, and dropped to the ground.  I felt like I was going to throw up, it hurt so bad.  Luckily (for my pride) there was no one else around, so I sat there for a minute and caught my breath, then we headed home.  Jake was really upset that I was hurt and he just wanted to get home.  Plus, I could barely walk, and that puts a damper on roaming the neighborhood for candy.  Once we were home, Jake kept saying "Mom, I'm sorry you hurt your foot" or "I'm sad about your foot," and kept bringing me over some of his candy.  Even helped keep up my supply of ice.

I'm afraid, though, that this is going to be one of those first memories that never leaves you for Jake.  And I feel really bad about that.

So . . . yeah.  I hope that YOUR Halloween was better than mine.

I can dream

Sometimes I sit around and think about how life would be different if I had loads of money.

I would get an iPod and TiVo.

I would travel a lot.

I would have more time to have fun and hang out with my friends.

I would hire a house-keeper.

And I for sure wouldn't be wearing a pair of dress shoes that are held together by gorilla glue.
