I bought Jake a few new books this weekend (I can't resist books . . . it's like a compulsion) and one of them was a Step Into Reading book (I LOVE THOSE!) called "Peanut." We opened it up, and Jake read the following BY HIMSELF:
This is Peanut
He is tiny,
but he is strong.
He loves to sniff
things --
even stinky things!
Peanut sniffs a cat.
He sniffs a wad of gum.
He sniffs a trash bag.
I only had to help him sound out a couple of the words. He usually refuses to read words in books, because he wants to be read to and he acts all shy about reading. But dude, that was pretty awesome.
