Hey Dad

So Lou got home at 9:30 tonight.  Jake said "Hey dad, how many hours did you work today?"

Lou thought for a moment, then said "Thirteen."

Jake, bouncing on the couch, said "Do you think you're up for a little Mario?"

HOW CUTE is that?!  How can you NOT play Wii with a kid when he's that adorable?  (They're upstairs playing now.)

Owch.

Had a root canal on Monday.  Still sore.  I can only take the good drugs pain relievers at night, gotta be semi-awake for work.

So . . . yeah.

Every time we get in the car, Jake says "Do we have enough gas?"  I don't know why he does this.  So yesterday we were driving home from Priscilla's, and having a discussion about the car's gas tank.  I told him we had 3/4 of a tank still.  He didn't understand that, so I said "Imagine if we had a pizza and cut it into 4 pieces.  If someone took 1 piece away, we'd still have 3 pieces left.  That's what 3/4ths means.  We have plenty of gas."

He paused for a second, and said "Mom?  Can we get pizza?"

Thoughts on the writer's strike

Has anyone else realized this is going to affect them?  I mean, after this week, there are no new Office episodes.  This is a big deal, people!  And it doesn't stop there.  One by one, all the great scripted shows we love will fall by the wayside until the network execs get their heads out of their butts.

Michael Shur, who guests sometimes as Dwight's cousin Mose on the office, wrote an awesome commentary about it all.  Read it here.

After you read that, write letters to execs of all networks you have favorite shows on, and tell them you are not turning your TV to their channel until the writer's strike is over.  K?

So Thankful

Ok, this page STARTED OUT with me trying to tease Priscilla.  I was going to write something funny.  But then the page ended up so pretty, I couldn't be sarcastic. 

So I'll show you the page here, then I'll tell you two funny stories.  That's just as good, right?

On the night we took the kids to the local Trick-or-Treat in the Park thing, we went to Wendy's afterward.  Priscilla was driving, and trying to figure out what we were going to get from the dollar menu.  I told her that I just wanted a junior cheeseburger.  And she said "Ok, so should I order you a junior bacon cheeseburger without bacon?"  And that was somehow so funny we laughed so hard that we couldn't breathe.

Then last week we were talking about something, and she said "Well I didn't want you to think that I was crazy."  And I said "Honey, that ship sailed a LONG time ago."

And maybe only I think these things are funny.  I don't know.  :)
