In Search of Myself

Hello?

It's hard to explain how frustrating it is to have a child who won't talk to you on the phone.  Until pretty recently, Jake wouldn't talk to ANYONE on the phone, beyond hello, goodbye, and nodding.  (Can't hear the rocks in your brain, buddy.)  But Jake has out of nowhere developed a love for the phone, to the point he runs to answer it and will bother me until I let him talk.  This is a VERY awesome development.

Aowyn's 3rd bday

So it was 2 weeks ago . . . I get around to stuff eventually.  :)

(The girls' friend was at the party, too, and since I don't know her parents well, she has been blurred.)

My life in pictures

So the past few weeks in whatever pockets of free time I have found, I've been working on a pretty indulgent scrapbook album.  It's all about me.  It's called Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life, it's a challenge that I am doing with some people from DigiShopTalk.  I have all my alphabet pages posted -- they're here if you want to see -- but I ended up with a lot of pictures I didn't get to use.  So I made a photo appendix to the end of the book -- a 16 page-long overview of me in the last 28 years.  (Hey, I already warned you it is a self-indulgent project!!!

My mom told me that yesterday when they were driving around, Jake kept asking why the sun was following them.  Jake ALWAYS asks me why the sun is following us.  I try to tell him it's so high in the sky that we can see it from anywhere, but he just doesn't quite get it.  My mom told Jake some variation of this, that the sun is very high in the sky and it shines EVERYWHERE in the world throughout the day.

Jake thought about this for a minute, then said "But what about Antarctica?"
