Man, Jake is asking a lot of questions lately, and really trying to figure out the world. He likes to ask why something happens, and then ask what if it didn't. Like driving home "Why is there a road here?" "Umm . . . so we can drive home?" "But what if there WASN'T a road here?" "Then we couldn't get home, I guess." And his reply: "But then we could ride in a HELICOPTER!"
So last night before bed, we were reading a book and Jake suddenly says "What if God made us kittens when He made us?" I said "Then I guess we would have tails and say meow." Jake thought that was funny.
Then later I was singing a silly song and he covered my mouth so I would stop. I said "Don't cover my nose, I need to breathe!" He said "But WHY do we breathe?" So I explained to him (for the umpteenth time) that to be alive, we have to breathe to get air into our lungs, our hearts needs to pump blood through our body, and our brain has to be thinking. This prompted a "why?" so I replied with my stand-by answer "Because that's the way God made us."
Then he said "But what if we didn't know God's name?"
umm, wow.
OMG kids aretoo funny!
