Last Thursday was Jake's last day of preschool, and they had a "celebration" for the families -- but it was outside in really hot weather. I got a little sunburned, but whatever. It was fun, and while Jake is going to miss seeing Ms. Gaby and his friends twice a week, I'm pretty sure that my mom and Priscilla are relieved not to have to get the kids ready and to school those mornings. :) My sister Sara and her husband Ken happened to be down to visit for a few days, so they were able to attend the craziness. Hope they weren't bored out of their minds. :)
After the celebration, we decided to go to my mom's house and let the kids play in the yard. It's rare we get to do this, and I'm wondering if it's the last time we have all 5 kids together, because Zoe is starting preschool soon and I don't think my mom is going to watch her anymore. That will be really weird -- she and Jake have been together a few days a week since January 2003!!!
On Friday Jake and I had lunch with my sister Sara. Then Priscilla and I took the kids to the Discovery Center in M'boro and I purposely didn't bring my camera so that I'd be able to enjoy being there with Jake and not obsessed with capturing the day. He had a really good time, and even got to "fly" the little airplane that is usually off limits -- and he was GOOD at it. Bro knows instinctively how mechanical stuff works. Then for dinner we ate at Panera -- you would not BELIEVE how much food it takes to feed the 6 of us!!! It was a darn perfect day!
Saturday evening Lou cooked and grilled and Priscilla (and hubby!) and the kids came over and dang, y'all -- my husband can cook!
Is it sad that I don't really remember Sunday? We went to church, and the rest of the day is a blur.
Monday Jake and I rented a bunch of movies, and then in the afternoon we went to see . . . who else? Priscilla and the kids. I guess we've been playing catch up since we've hardly seen each other this month (because SOMEONE went on a cross-country trip!) but really it just seems normal when we have extra time on our hands to hang out.
So yeah . . . good weekend.
