Last night, wanting to be a fun mom and celebrate Jake's 1/2 birthday, we went to O'Charley's (me, my mom, and Jake.)
We were seated quickly, and I was excited about getting some good food. When they brought out the bread, I was confused because it's usually these big, gooey, asymmetrical rolls -- and the ones they brought were hard, round little things. I thought maybe they just screwed up one batch, but the next set we got were just like them.
Kids no longer eat free, but I knew that because Priscilla had already warned me.
I ordered the chicken quesadilla appetizer for my meal, and when it was brought to me, it was about half the size it normally is (but the price was still the same.) I asked where the shredded lettuce was that always came with it, and the waitress said "Oh, we don't do shredded lettuce anymore." Seeing the look of shock on my face, she quickly added "But I can have the kitchen cut you some." When she brought it back out, it was NOT the right kind of lettuce, and it tasted like it still had garden dirt on it.
Jake's chicken fingers looked more like small chunks of chicken with gnarled appendages -- hardly any white meat was to be found. Mostly it was just layers and layers of crispy breading.
But the clincher for me was the birthday cake. Or lack thereof. I asked if she could bring one of the small chocolate birthday cakes that they have ALWAYS had, and she said "Oh, we don't do those anymore, either. But you can look at the dessert menu." The chocolate cake she ended up bringing out was bitter and tasted like it had been sitting out all day.
Now I know a restaurant has the right to change their menu and all their food -- but DAMN, a little head's up would have been nice. What a freaking waste of money. I used to look forward to eating at O'Charley's as an occasional treat -- but after last night, I am literally never going there again.
Seriously? I had never heard of the reastaurant before moving to Virginia - and I've been to the one here about 3 or 4 times already. We still have the big, gooey rolls that just melt in your mouth. So - you'll have to come visit and we'll go to my place so you can get your faith back in the place! LOL

And the quesadilla was burnt too. I vote for hot wings next time.

It used to be pretty good. But they miss it entirely with their value menu. It's made the whole place seem cheap and the waitresses don't give followup like their used to at the Brentwood TN location. On Tuesday's they ruin it with a live radio show, blasting like it's the espn sports bar, with the titans head coach. Even if the Titan's didn't suck, which they do, the whole restaurant changes dynamics. You can't hear. The waitresses are screaming over the broadcast speakers. And the kitchen is distracted with the celebrity moment of seeing a real live NFL titan.
Trouble in when trying to be nice and talk to the managers they've very defensive and tune you out. It's clear they really don't care what you think.
There are so many better choices of places. They don't deserve my business and I've steered our entire office away from the place now for 3 months.
How can I do that?
Cause I'm the manager. And I have enough common sense to know how to respect the customer
