Jake's brain interprets things very literally. I have to be careful about how I explain things to him -- and careful even about random little comments -- because I never know how he'll take it. At therapy two weeks ago, Rachael was trying to get Jake to draw a face. He drew a big circle, one little circle inside the big one, and then stopped. She pointed to the little circle and said "What's this?" He looked at her like she was stupid and said "A circle."
Jake got this freaky little toy from McD's (picture at right), and I was trying to figure out what it was. It's not a person, and not any kind of animal that I can identify, so I was thinking maybe a monster or an alien? I asked Jake what it was supposed to be, and he shrugged and said "A dancer." Duh, mom.
Jake does NOT like having his fingernails cut -- but they grow really fast, and will peel if they get even close to long. I noticed they needed trimmed again, and told him to wait so I could get the clippers. He said "I don't want my nails cut. I'm just gonna tear it off." EEEEWWWWW. Lou thought it was funny. I did NOT.
