Pumpkin Farm!

I figured a good way to wish you all a Happy Halloween is to show you our pictures from the pumpkin farm!  We went last year, and had a really good time -- so now no fall season is complete without a trip to Walden Farm!  It's just a few miles from my house, and the drive was really pretty.  And I got to enjoy it, because Priscilla was driving.  LOL.

I took the three older kids on the tractor ride while Priscilla waited with the stroller and the baby.  The picture from the van of us facing out to no road?  Long story.  (Priscilla is the best driver ever.  Really.)

If I would have let him, Jake would have ridden on that red tractor FOREVER.  And the kids with their hands on the car?  That's how I make sure the kids stay safe and right next to me when I'm getting stuff out of the car.  It works pretty well.  LOL.

Something Pretty

Lou and I had a . . . umm . . . heated discussion early last week.  He called me the next day and asked if we were still friends.  "I don't know," I said.  "You might have to buy me something pretty.  Or something chocolate."

So he said that he would, and I needed to wait a few days so he could arrange it.

Happy Bday, K-Re!

My little sister is 26 today!  (Which means I'll be 28 in two months!  Eeek!)

On my way home I'm going to Target to buy a season of MacGyver on DVD for her -- we used to LOVE that show.  Umm, we were kind of obsessed.  MacGyver and Quantum Leap -- how big of dorks are we?!  But I think she'll really like it.  :)

Seriously?

I took Tuesday off work to go take Jake to get a flu shot.  Then we got a call that they were out of flu shots, and hey, call again next week.

I took today off work to take Jake to a pumpkin farm.  It was raining this morning.  It kept raining all day.  It's still raining.  Yeah, we're not going to the pumpkin farm.

And to add insult to injury?  Grey's Anatomy is a re-run tonight.  COME ON, PEOPLE!!!!

Deep thoughts by Jake

This happened a few weeks ago and I wrote it on my notepad document here at work, but forgot to blog it.  So here it is, just a little after the fact.

After a long day, in which Jake and I had some arguments and falling-outs, we were laying on his bed, trying to get him to fall asleep.  After the "I love you"s and such, he was silent, then randomly said:

"Mommy, sometimes I be good to you, and sometimes I be bad to you."

I said "Yeah, I know.  Let's try to work on being good to me more than the bad, ok?"

seriously, he's deep sometimes.

Cross-country work day funny

A certain friend of ours now has a job a LOT like mine, and we are at work the exact same hours during the day (except for the days when I skip out to do something random, LOL!  I've been taking a lot of days off lately, simply because I don't feel like going in.  Yes, I schedule them in advance, that's what vacation days are for.)  So we chat a bit through the day on Google chat, keep each other amused, bitch to each other when work or co-workers make us crazy (ok, yeah, that's mostly me), talk to stall when the pile of work on the desk is just too much . . . generally just keep each other company.

This conversation today cracked me up:

Lisa: okay - if you can actually die of boredom? I'm totally going to today

Jen: BWAH HA HA HA

it's more boring when you have boring work than when you have nothing to do, huh

Lisa: I never thought it would be - but yeah, totally

Jen: trust the woman who has been doing this for 5 years. :)

Lisa: LOL

I mean, seriously - I open a spreadsheet, highlight rows, copy, paste special into new worksheet, close old file, drag it to different folder, then start on the next one.

it's no wonder I've gained weight in this job -- I eat just to break up the boredom

Lisa, thank you for being my work buddy!!!  You make the 8.5 hours I'm sitting here SO much more tolerable!!!!

Go read my latest article at ACOT.  I mean, I get paid the same, regardless of how many people read it and/or comment . . . but I need attention.  I'm a middle child, I'm wired that way.  So read it, post a comment there, or post a comment here.  It's interesting, I promise.  And I freaking worked my butt off on it!

Birthday Boys

Lou and his Uncle Roger have the same birthday (15 years apart!) so every year the family gets together at Nannie and Pa's house to celebrate.  When Lou and I were first dating, Lou's cake said 25 and Roger's cake said 40.  Time flies!  Aunt Lisa was there with Terry Beth and Jessica, and Jessica's husband Whitney.  Aunt Julie was there, as was Lauren.  And Roger Dale and Bonny, who is having a baby in December.  My mom came, too.  Every year, Nannie makes Lou and Roger the same kind of cakes, and every year Roger tried to convince everyone to not eat his cake, so he can hog it.  Oh, and this year Jake blew out Lou's candles and thought it was hilarious.  That picture at right?  Pa gives Jake dollar bills all the time.  It's hilarious.

 

Lou's actual birthday fell on Monday, so after working all day (he took the day off) I rushed to Publix to buy groceries and a cake, came home and unloaded it, went to mom's to pick up Jake, then we came home and had a quick birthday sing/cake eat before Monday night football started.  Jake had a blast putting the candles on the cake -- he decided that there should be ten.  One for every three years, I suppose?

The big THREE-OH

Someone in our house turns 30 today -- it's not me, and it's not Jake.  :)

We had a party on Saturday at Lou's parent's house -- I'll try to post those pictures tonight.

Dude! Dove candy bars

So Lou brought me a candy bar today because I'm a little . . . umm . . . bitchy.  It's a hormone thing, I can NOT help it.  But this is what he brought me:

 

And I was like sweet dude!  I didn't know you could get these in candy bar format!  LOL.
