So obviously, being that it's the beginning of September, life at any university is crazy. Especially ours.
Lou got paid today. I have to go home and pay our bills. That's a time consuming process, because I keep track of things and write things down in pain-staking detail.
It's the first of the month, which means I get to spend 10 hours this weekend doing Lou's gma's MaryKay newsletter. (Hey, I need the money.)
The first of the month is also when I switch out advertisers for my website, so I've been dealing with Paypal and e-mails and ad graphics a lot of the day.
Jake's birthday is in 12 days. I should probably plan a party, eh?
You know, having an early January birthday, I get the unique perspective of not only starting out a New Year, but also starting out a new year of my life. And Jake has the same uniqueness -- with an early September birthday, he gets a new year of life and the new school year. He'll be starting "school" -- Mother's Day Out -- on Tuesday. And as his mother, I feel that newness, too.
Last night Jake and I sat in his room and sorted through his dresser, closet, and three boxes of hand-me-downs to figure out what he had for the school year and to see what we needed to hand-down to someone else. We're only 1/2 through, but it feels good to have started.
So I'm sitting here with the new month and the new year and all the things I'm working on, and I have been SO busy today, but it's a good busy. I have a renewed sense of the things I need to get done and the work I need to do, and a resolve to make it work.
I've been slacking off lately. Going to bed early. Watching too much TV. It's been nice. But summer's over, and I have to start getting back in the swing of things. Staying focused. Working toward goals. Being who I need to be.
Here's to a new year.
How exciting that Jake is starting MDO. How many days a week is he going? He is going to have so much fun.
Try not to have too much fun w/the Mary Kay letter--it sounds very exciting!!!

I'll be thinking of Jake on Tuesday, hope he has lots of fun!
Sept here is just another month, the school year starts in February. Sept 1 is the first day of Spring for us and that is GOOD :)
