Jake has been taking the time lately to tell me that not only does he LOVE me, he also LIKES me. I don't know if he really understands just what he's saying, because that's a huge thing to understand at not-quite-four. When you're related to someone, you love them by obligation. Sure, you love your parents and siblings, but like? Well, that's not a requirement. But no, Jake will come up to me and give me a hug, and say something like "I like you SO MUCH." And of course I reply "Well I like you, too." And sometimes he follows it up with "And I love you."
Either he's totally random, or a freaking genius. I'd like to vote for #2.

Of course he's a genius. He's your child, isn't he? What else would you expect?

I say he likes you and he loves you and he totally knows the difference but he feels both :)
