Ya know how at Wendy's when you're ordering a kid's meal, you have a choice for each element? Like you don't just order a kid's meal, you have to say "Chicken nuggets kids meal with fries and a chocolate milk." EVERY SINGLE TIME we order one, Jake pipes up from the back seat, "AND A TOY! Mom, I want a toy, too. Tell her a toy!" I always try to explain to him that they KNOW to put a toy in with the meal, but I guess he's afraid they'll forget. Goober.
And as long as we're talking about food . . . Jake doesn't like most desserts -- he won't eat ice cream or pudding or jello or most cakes. (Which leads some people to believe he's not really my kid.) But he LOVES cookies. All sorts of cookies. He has his own random names for all his favorites. He asked me for a cookie the other day, and I said "Which kind do you want?" He said "Dominos." "Dominos? Honey, they make pizza, but not cookies." "We have dominos! I want a domino cookie!" Perplexed, I told him to show me -- he led me to the pantry and pulled out a bag . . . of Milano's!
Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies are "black cookies" to him. He won't touch any other Girl Scout cookies. He really likes Oreos, too -- but he calls them black & white cookies. "Honey, they're not black & white cookies, they're called Oreo's," I told him. He looked at me like I was stupid, pointed to the cookie and said, "This black. This white." How can I argue with that?
