Well, we've been thinking for a while that Jake needed a playmate, so . . .
. . . my sister got a puppy! (What did you think I was going to say? LOL. Hey, if I can't have another baby, I can at least have some fun at your expense!!!)
This is Sadie Mae. She's a beagle and is about 3 months old. Kathy has been wanting a puppy for a while now -- we've never had a dog. Well, ok, we had that one dog when I was four and it was really mean to me and we had to put it to sleep (thus my fear of dogs.) But Sadie is a sweet, LITTLE puppy, and we will teach her to be nice. I think the problem with the dog we had when I was little, is he was grown when we got him. So Kat talked my parents into letting her get a dog, and mom and dad are both just as in love with Sadie as Kat is. Sadie cost $500!!! And that was after a $200 discount because she was getting "old" for the pet store. (Kat looked at another beagle, a little smaller and lighter colored, that was $1400!!! The only pets we've had are two cats, and they were free from friends. Andrea -- remember Peanutbutter? He was the best cat ever. April was kind of a snob, but I loved Peanut.)
Jake has a friend from church named Sadie, too, so hopefully it won't confuse him. Jake, Sadie, and Ryan are all within two months of each other in age. I told Sadie's mom, Abby, yesterday about the new dog and she said it's absurd the number of people who name their dogs Sadie AND Abby. But the name was Kathy's decision.
Jake is in HEAVEN. He loves this dog already. Yesterday he was running around mom's backyard with her. The whole time he was saying "Run run run, dog!" It was SO HARD to convince him to come home with me. He kept saying "dog? dog? Nana's house?" On Saturday when Kathy was helping Jake get to know Sadie and they were feeding her, Jake ran and got a handful of puppy food and said "Come here, dog!" (And I got it on video, yay!!) Having this dog just might help Jake make that final speaking leap! He talks a lot when he plays with Sadie. And the best part about all of this? Jake gets to play with a dog all day long and I don't have to get one for my house!!!
What a darling pup!!! Too cute and so fun to see the pics of Jake playing with her.
Thanks for sharing.

HOW CUTE! I love animals. Brent is a scrooge though... we're a pet-free household.

Jen,
Sadie is too cute! I had the same reaction when I talked with Dad the other day. Jake gets to have all of the benefits of having a dog without Jen & Lou having to deal with house breaking the puppy!

I have to say, Andy and I are jealous!! I think I scared Andy when I let out a yelp so that I could show him the puppy! We're wanting to get a dog and I've always wanted a beagle. Do you remember my grandma's FAT beagle, Pepper?! Tell Kathy I am totally jealous! And, of course, I remember Peanut! He was my buddy, aside from Tipsey!!

Jen, your intro to this post had me all excited ;)
Sadie Mae is beautiful - I love beagles, they are unbelievably cute. What a pal she will be for Jake as they grow up together. And you don't have to clean up her poops or pay the vet bills lol :)
