Remember Jake's two-year Picture People pics I showed you like last week? Well here are the scrapbook pages I made with them. I scanned the pictures, then printed them each 3.5 by 5 inches (gotta love Windows XP, which makes that VERY easy). I left the striped area on the right page open for journaling, which I haven't gotten around to yet. The great thing about scrapbooking is you can do just a little at a time and finish it later, and especially with digital images you can just decide to scrap pictures "later" and not have to print them. I still have pictures from this past winter I need to print to scrap, but I'll get around to it later. ;o) (the individual page pictures that follow can be clicked on to open bigger.)
I was just on Shelly's blog, talking to her about the new things Jake is saying, and I thought I'd take a second to write some of them down. The cutest thing he does is come over, grab my hand (or my skirt), tug on me, and say "with me." As in, "mommy, come with me and do what I want to do." A lot of times, he does this at night as I'm trying to do scrapbooking while he lays down watching Bear to wind down to go to sleep (it's either that, or go to bed right away, and he usually chooses a video.) But he likes for me to sit next to him on the couch, and he'll put the pillow on my lap and say "me." He says this because every time he does it, I say "do you want to lay on me?" So now it's just "me." And finally instead of "aah-ha" to say yes (as in "ha ha I get my way"), he says "yeah." It's so cute.
Jake is obsessed with the letter A. He likes the letters A, B, K, and O the best, but A is his favorite. I've already told you that he draws on things and thinks he's written the letter A (and proceeds to tell me all about it), but he also is constantly in search of A's to point out to me. At McDonald's last month (when he had just learned "O") we were in the drive-thru and he pointed out the "o" in the name on the wall to me. For Jake, that's impressive. He's also started saying "Cake," but it sounds like "take." He says "again" but it sounds like "giin." (And he usually says that when I'm singing and he wants me to sing it again and again. How many years do you think I have left of him asking me to SING and not to STOP?) If I say "Ready?" he'll shout "go!" If we say "one . . . " he'll say "two . . . tree . . . " He loves pointing out his knees and toes to me. He says those words very clearly. When he wants to play "vroom vroom" in my car he makes the motions with his hand and says "vroom vroom." He says "swing" and "slide" but it's not clear enough than anyone other than family can recognize it. And he asks to go to the "pah" (park) all the time. Sometimes when Jake's talking to me I feel like I'm playing a game and I have to listen really hard and ask him to repeat himself several times while I rack my brain, trying to figure out what he means. Like the other day, he was in his high chair eating, and pointed toward the fridge and said "ba? ba?" He doesn't get bottles anymore, there was no ball to play with, "dot daw" is hot dog, and "chee" is cheeze, "mih" is milk, "nana" is banana, "dooo" is juice, so I couldn't figure out what he meant. Finally I realized he was pointing to the laundry room, where I keep his blocks in perpetual "time-out" except for the times I have the energy to keep track of them. I guess Jake and I just have to be patient with each other, and eventually we'll both get better at this.
Such a sweetheart! I love it when Peter wiggles his fingers and tells me, "come with me mommy!"
How do you do digital scrapbooking?!

digital scrapbooking, I have no idea. These I printed the pictures from the computer and then scrapbooked with paper. I'm a paper and scissors girl, all the way!

Brilliant, as always! Jake's speech is really coming along, Jen. I love 'dot daw' for hot dog, that is so cute :)
