In Search of Myself: I have the cutest kid in the world

Ok, so really my kid probably isn't any cuter than yours, but I just love these pictures, and hey, he's MINE so I get to think he's the cutest ever. Jake is still so difficult to get pictures of, because he doesn't want to sit by himself. I get him positioned and then back away to get out of the picture, and he lunges at me, or cries and shuffles toward me. This started as soon as he could walk. Before that, we got some GREAT pictures of him, because he would just sit there being cute. He's just scared of being away from me when we're in public (which I actually guess is a good thing.)

The only reason we took this picture of me and Jake together is he would just not cooperate to get a stand-alone shot, and I said "well just take one of him and me" so I could use up a pose. I actually like it, except for my crazy hair (which I will edit out the stray strands later. What can I say, it's humid here.) Oh, and this is the doggie that he carries around EVERYWHERE, and anyone who will look at him he will try to get their attention and do a little bark thing, like saying "look, I have a dog." Everyone asks me what the dog's name is, but we don't name his puppies so I always say "ummm . . . he's just the puppy."

I got this outfit at Carter's (I LOVE Carters!!!) but it's still just a little big for him. He can't squeeze into his 2's -- the shirts are way too tight in the shoulders, and the pants won't fit around his waist. But his legs aren't long enough yet to really fill out a pair of 3T pants, so I didn't know what clothes to put him in. The funny thing is, I HATE the color orange, especially for clothing. When I moved to Tennessee and saw everyone wearing Tennessee Vols orange, I just thought "You're kidding me, right?" Why would anyone wear that orange color? But this darker, "burnt orange" looks good on Jake so I find myself searching it out. Odd.

At his doctor's appointment Jake hadn't eaten yet and he was screaming bloody murder (and trying to get off the scale) when we tried to weigh him, so he weighed in at almost 33 pounds, which I don't think is right. He weighs around 35 on my mom's scale. But he was almost 37 inches tall. He's in the 97th percentile for height and the 92nd for weight (at their weight measurement), and once again his head is off the charts (and once again I am paranoid that his head is disproportionate to his body.) I knew a guy in college who was tall and skinny and had this huge head, and I could never get past it. I'm sure he was a wonderful guy, but he looked like a stick figure.

Anyway, the doctor says he looks great, and Jake and I had a nice, quiet day together. Our doctor's appointment was at 9 a.m. and our picture appointment was at 3 p.m. so after lunch I made Jake lay down with me to take a nap. We laid there for TWO HOURS and he didn't sleep even a little bit. (But he did sit there with me while I slept, and he didn't get down from the bed, so that's good.) He ended up conking out at 7 p.m. tonight, then was up from 9 to 11. I honestly never know what to expect out of him, he's so goofy. We had a good time hanging out today, though, and it feels SO GOOD to still have my whole weekend ahead of me! I love having Fridays off work!

Oh, and Priscilla was having contractions this morning so hopefully she will have the baby today or tomorrow (she may have already had it and not had a chance to call me yet! yay!)

DARLING PICS!!!!!!!!!! Of course silly girl I will still have time and the need for all my e friends! All of YOU have meant the world to me and I would be soooooo heartbroken if I lost any of you.....! You cant ever get rid of me! LOL!

What beautiful photos - I can see why you're VERY happy with them! Jake is such a little sweetheart. I love that burnt orange colour too, Ryan has a sleeveless fleecy vest (zip up front)in that colour and it always looks so good with navy.

Don't you just LOVE Fridays off work?! Very rare but what a start to the weekend.
