I
sincerely believe that banking establishments are more dangerous than
standing armies, and that the principle of spending money to be paid by
posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a
large scale.
Thomas Jefferson
I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.
Thomas Jefferson
My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.
Thomas Jefferson
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
Thomas Jefferson
A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government.
Thomas Jefferson
Sometimes it is said that man cannot be trusted with the government of himself. Can he, then be trusted with the government of others? Or have we found angels in the form of kings to govern him? Let history answer this question.
Thomas Jefferson
Fascinating isn't it? That Thomas Jefferson's quotes resonate so profoundly in today's politics. He argued against Hamilton wanting to establish a Federal banking system, and a national debt. But Hamilton won out. Thanks Hamilton. What would Jefferson think about the billion dollar bailout? About national health care, about redistributing wealth? He was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence, and America's third president. Why are the current politicians not asking what would Jefferson do, LOL.
That last quote "...Or have we found angels in the form of kings to govern him? Let history answer this question." Is so extremely eye opening. It seems that is the message of both candidates the country is voting for tomorrow. I am an angel who will be your king. I will feed the poor, I will educate your children, I will pay for your health care. That people actually want it to is disturbing to me. My vote for third party was not wasted. My vote said I will not vote for the federal government to be my angel. If more people were encouraged to vote for their true principals, not just one or the other party affiliate, rather than being criticized for it, this country could have seen REAL CHANGE. History will be made in this country tomorrow. History will answer Jefferson's question. History will decide which candidate will be their angel. I am proud not to be a part of that history.
