Shutterfly rocks

Shutterfly gave me the chance to sample their new hard-back books, and HOLY COW.  I'm in love.  Possibly the coolest thing, ever.  So if you want to read my review about all the coolness, click here.

How cool are they?  LOU loves them.  Lou, people.  And I had Lisa proof-read my review, and now SHE wants to make a book.  So be warned that if you read about the books, you'll probably want one.  Or several.

A little Christmas (early)

Ornaments_copy2

I LOVE this kit. It's by Shabby Princess (at The Shabby Shoppe), called Holiday Joy.  (There's an ALBUM that goes with this kit, too -- I can't WAIT to use it!)

I feel VERY special, because this page was in Shabby Princess' latest newsletter!

I had a lot of fun making this page -- I took the picture last year with the intention of scrapping it eventually, and then I saw this kit with the felt ornament elements, and that was just too perfect.

Details for my ACOT article

Here are the product lists for the scrapbook pages used in my latest ACOT article.  They don't do it in the article, but here each page will open for viewing larger in a new window.

1_4 2_3
These layouts are both of fall family gatherings with my husband's family.  I'm kind of thinking about doing this same page each year now!  LOL.
-- The first, I used paper from Chatterbox, Inc, and letter stickers from S.E.I.
-- The second, I used Miss Mint's "Oopsie Doodle" kit, found at PeppermintCreative.com

3_3 4_2
It might seem odd that I made the EXACT same page in paper and digi.  Why would I do that?  Well, the girls in the picture belong to my best friend, and she just loved the page.  So now she can print out a copy of the digi page for herself!
-- The first page, I used KiMemories' "Organized" paper line, and KiMemories Tattoo rub-ons.  The alphabet rub-ons are American Crafts.
-- The second page, I used Shabby Princess' kit, "Silly Boy:::CuddleBUG," available at theShabbyShoppe.com.  The stars and hearts?  At this point, I can't remember.  Eeek!  LOL.  Oh, and the journaling?  That's the font made out of my hand-writing that September Myles made for me!

5_3 6_2
-- The first page is KiMemories paper, from a long time ago.  The letter stickers are Doodlebug cardstock stickers.
-- The second page I used I used Shabby Princess' kit, "Silly Boy:::CuddleBUG," again -- available at theShabbyShoppe.com.

7_2 8_2
-- The first page is KiMemories paper, from a while ago.  The letter stickers are American crafts and Making Memories.
-- The second page I used Karen Hunt's "Krafty Doodles For Him" kit, available at Scrapbook-Bytes.com.  I also used Dani Mogstad's Acrylic Alpha, available at DesignbyDani.com

9_2 10_2
-- The first page, I used Shabby Princess' kit, "Silly Boy:::CuddleBUG," again -- available at theShabbyShoppe.com.  (Umm, I REALLY like that kit.)
-- The second page, I used a random piece of cardstock, Basic Grey paper, and Reminisce alpha/number stickers.  I made the star/flower element by cutting up paper and using Shabby Princess' element as a guide.

11_2 12_2
-- This first page was created by Shabby Princess, using her "Signature Collection" kit.  click here to view details.
-- The second page uses KiMemories' "Organized" paper line, and KiMemories Tattoo rub-ons.

13_2 14_1
-- In the first layout, I used Miss Mint's "Father's Day" kit (for a Mother's Day layout!) -- found at PeppermintCreative.com
-- The second, I used KiMemories paper and cardstock stickers (the circles at top) and Autumn Leaves rub-on stitching.

15 16
-- The first layout I originally scraplifted from "dallin.and.gracie" at TwoPeas.  This is Shabby Princess' kit, "Silly Boy ~ Nut nut," available at theShabbyShoppe.com
-- The second uses KiMemories Organization line, letter stickers from Chatterbox, and rub-ons from EK Success (product number 72-65119 at ACOT.)

17 18
-- The first layout was made by Audrey Neal.  click here to view details.
-- The second layout, I used Shabby Princess' kit, "Our Little Prince," available at theShabbyShoppe.com

19 20
This first layout is of my cousin's daughter, Courtney.  I used Susan Long's "Kid Stuff" kit -- I LOVE the bright colors! Fonts are Century Gothic, TwoPeas Open Spaces, and the dingbats are one of the David Walker fonts.
The second uses KiMemories Organization line, and American Crafts rub-ons.  I can't remember where I got the paw print sticker.  :)

CONTEST! Win a book!

BookcoverSometimes companies ask me if I want something for free, in exchange for reviewing it on my website. And the logical answer to "do you want something for free" is of course, yes.

You may have heard about this book, "Journal," either on my website or Scrapability's. (She also got a free copy for a review. She's cool that way.) I was given an extra copy for a give-away, but now that I've read the book and reviewed it, I decided that I don't need to hang on to my copy. I only have so much bookshelf space!

Here is my review of the book, which also links to Scrapability's review:
http://www.jenstrange.com/site/index...95&Item id=67

So I'm giving YOU a chance to get it, and to add some fun content to my website at the same time.

One book will go to the winner of the best "Why We Digi-Scrap" essay/article for inclusion on my site. That part of my website is here:
http://www.jenstrange.com/site/index...d=37&Itemid=96

The other will go to the best "Print It Project" article submitted. See that section here: http://www.jenstrange.com/site/index...d=38&Itemid=97

Just look around that part of the site to see what kind of stuff is already up -- I don't really have requirements like word count, subject, photos, etc. Pretty much whatever it takes to write something great and get your point across. We're all intelligent here, I trust you. LOL.

There will probably be some runners up, and those chosen to be put up on the website will get a gift certificate to a digital scrapbooking store. Obviously, anyone submitting agrees to have their content put on my website (and you even get a fun "Guest Author Bio" put up on the site!)

Just e-mail me your text, with photos attached if necessary, to jenstrange@gmail.com with an obvious subject line.

Hmm . . . deadline? Let's say Nov. 15th. That will give you guys time to receive the book in time to give it as a Christmas present if you want. Or you can wrap it up and put it under the tree for yourself! LOL.

(international girls, if you REALLY want to play and you win, you'll have to help me out with the extra postage to send the book. I will happily eat the cost of sending it to anyone in the US or Canada, but outside of that is pushing it.)

Lost in the 50's tonight.

ha ha ha . . . couldn't think of an original title for this post.

I've been working with a lot of pictures of my grandma . . . I need to scan some more, but some I already had on my computer . . . and once again I had a kit to use for a creative team (Lauren Grier and Robin Carlton's Fudge Dream Supreme) so I made a page.

Gma50stwo

You know, I'll say this for creative teams -- it FORCES me to use pictures and make pages that otherwise I might not have gotten around to.  And every time, I sit back when I'm done and I love what I'm left with.  I like the motivation and the challenge and having a semi-deadline for it all.  And what I get in return is the free kit (which I don't REALLY need, I have SO many digi-kits!) . . . but the best part is I've made a page that I love.  And that's pretty awesome.

Charity Kits

Well, I've moved the list of charity kits from this summer to here, because while they don't need to be on the front page anymore, I can't bear to move them completely off my blog quite yet.

Onangelswings_cullvad_1July 14th, 2006: Digitals is proud to announce the July 1 release of its newest charity kit: On Angels' Wings. This is truly Mega - 380 Mb unzipped of lovely elements with a coordinated color scheme and every penny of the $10 (even the PayPal fees) will be donated to SANDS, a stillbirth and neonatal support group in Austrailia. Forlaurapart4_elements_1June 21st, 2006: The For Laura Charity Kit is a fund raiser sponsored by 16 independent designers that came together to support their friend, Laura Vanderbeek.  The kit contains 4 separate but coordinating parts priced at $10 each.  Each part is being hosted by a different site to help us keep the downloads running smoothly.  To read all about it, to view kit previews, and for links, please click here.  To right is an example of one of the element sets, which gives a good representation of the kit's colors.

New pages

Well, there's kind of a summer slump in this whole digi-scrapping world . . . a lot of people are on vaca, a lot of people are now getting their kids ready for school, some are just enjoying a break.  I know that I haven't been as aggressive about keeping up with message boards, making new pages, making sure people make it to my blog . . . I guess I'll formulate a back-to-school resolution for all that.  LOL.

In the meantime, here are 4 new pages -- two were for creative teams, two just for fun.  Happy scrapping! The flying one is my absolute favorite -- Jake is SO FUNNY!!!
