-- I used Dani Mogstad / Shawna Clingerman's Year of Memories July kit. alphas from "4th" are from Jen Wilson and Meredith Fenwick.  Oh! and this layout is a scraplift from a page called "Sweet Scrapbook," but I can't figure out who I got it from.
-- The first page is for Jake's "Pets" album, the second for Jake's "mom & me" album.

-- I used all Dani Mogstad stuff here, except for the alpha, which is Miss Mint
-- The first page is for Jake's "Pets" album, the second for my "Priscilla and girls" album.

--  Alpha is Miss Mint's "Ripped Jean." The corner flower with butterfly is from Kristy Ann Designs' "Rainbow Connection" (and I recolored it. Yay for recoloring! LOL.) The glitter hearts are Miss Mint's "Glitter Shapes." (Miss Mint, you are always there for me. hee.)
-- The first page is for my "Fun" album, the second for my "Priscilla and girls" album.

-- I scraplifted this design from Dani Mogstad. I'm lost on which designers I used. For sure, Jen Wilson. I think Dani Mogstad or Miss Mint on the jean heart. There might be others, I don't know. I wasn't doing well with credits that day.
-- The first page is for Jake's "Pets" album, the second for my "Priscilla and girls" album.

-- Ok, this is a TOTAL scraplift of Lindsay. Click here to see original layout Truthfully, I've lost track of whose stuff I used (I suck!) I can tell you that it was Gina Miller, Kim Crothers, Shabby Princess, Karen Hunt, and probably Miss Mint, but I'm not sure on the details!!! LOL.
-- The first page is for Jake's "mom & me" album, the second for my "Priscilla and girls" album.

-- Everything you see is from Dani Mogstad.
-- The first page is for Jake's "mom & me" album, the second for my "Priscilla and girls" album.

-- I used a total mis-mash of a ton of my Jen Wilson stuff. Seriously, every element and paper is like from a different kit. That's why I love Jen so much -- her stuff works SO well together.
-- The first page is for my "Priscilla and girls" album, the second for Jake's "mom & me" album.

Gotta love Scraplifting

Laugh_out_loudI'm learning more and more lately that what I'm REALLY good at in the scrapbooking world, is SCRAPLIFTING.  Stealing borrowing someone else's design idea and making it your own.  hee.

So first I found this awesome layout (at right) of Lindsay's.  She SO totally rocked it.  I think the hardest part of copying it was finding enough cool elements to put on the page!  So here's the first page I made:

Then my mom asked me to make some layouts for her, to put up in Jake's new play room at her house.  So I thought what better pictures to use, than of her and the kids (my son Jake and my friends' kids.)  So on this one, I scraplifted myself more than the original layout.

And I love how they both turned out!

I'm a messy paper scrapper

Some people (like me) were just never meant to be paper scrappers, in the get your hands dirty and try something new kind of way.  Want proof?

My attempts at chipboard
proof that people like me should stick to digi.

Hee hee

Cindysimon_doowop_previewSo there's a digi designer (hi, Cindy Simon!!!!) who is just as obsessed with The Office as I am (she changed her Google Talk available custom message to "Big Tuna," and mine is now "Don't dance w/ Roy, Pam!") and we were IMing one day about The Office, and she asked me for advice on a kit she was working on.  She had the papers done, but needed ideas for the elements.  I gave her a few ideas, which she actually used!  And the kit turned out totally awesome.  This is as close to being a digital designer as I'll EVER be, so I'm all proud.

So here is the kit (right), and here is where you can get it.  (Notice if you click on the link that my name is listed in the description.  LOL!)

Here is the page I made with the kit!

A new site from me!

I know, seriously, how many sites do I need?  But this one is the most helpful yet!

This is for those of you who are new to scrapbooking and have trouble figuring out how to arrange your photos . . . or for any scrapper who needs new ideas for page design.

It's called "Layouts by the Numbers," and it's my favorite scrapbook layouts, arranged by the number of photos in the layout.  You have 3 photos you want to make a page with?  Click on the "3 photos" category and see a dozen ideas.

There's also a "Focus on Journaling" section, for those of you who need help figuring out how to include journaling, or just figuring out what to say. And a "Fold-Outs" section, for layouts with hinged elements to make room for more photos and journaling underneath.

Oh, and I've posted literally like 50 new, never-before-seen scrapbook layouts that I've made in the past year.

Click on image to get there.

Two great e-mails

I love getting e-mails like this, it makes me feel like I'm doing something right!  LOL.

January 20th:

I just wanted to let you know that you're site has been a big help to me. I just started getting into computer scrapbooking a few weeks ago and had bought some kits and downloaded them to my computer without really knowing what I was doing (as far as saving them, accessing them, etc). I came along your site after checking out some websites I found in one of my scrapbooking magazines. I saw the link to your site and starting exploring it and saw all the advice you had regarding zipfiles.  I had no idea I had to unzip them! I'm thinking to myself "what is she talking about"?  After reading your article and following the directions you gave I was able to move all the elements I downloaded into an organized accessible file and use the elements with my software so easily. I think you've created a monster now! I'm going to be  buying tons more stuff and be digital scraping a lot more now.
I'll definitely be exlporing your site often to get more great tips. Thanks again!
Jennifer

Reflections on the Past Year

how photos and scrapbook pages hold my memories

and also . .

Yes, I am alive.

I've had at least 3 people e-mail me with a news story from California, that someone with my same name and age died totally randomly . . . so if anyone else sees that news story, no, it is NOT me! I'm still alive, although I'm extremely sick and I slept until 4 p.m. yesterday!!!!

Here's an excerpt:

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Jan. 14) - A woman who competed in a radio station's contest to see how much water she could drink without going to the bathroom died of water intoxication, the coroner's office said Saturday.

Jennifer Strange, 28, was found dead Friday in her suburban Rancho Cordova home hours after taking part in the "Hold Your Wee for a Wii" contest in which KDND 107.9 promised a Nintendo Wii video game system for the winner.

Umm, totally random and sad. But not me.

I believe in being kind of caught up
